We’re still alive!

Hi everyone, sorry for the lack of communication. We’re still hard at work with Geode and hope to have it out the door soon. We’ve been working with the new iPhone 2.1 update to make sure everything still functions correctly.

It’s been a while since a few of us have seen the light of day, as our noses have been buried in code, images, and gps signals, so we’d like to know more about what it’s like on the outside. I know we’ve got quite a few followers out there, so we’d like to hear more from all of you about your geocaching stories. Who’s got the most interesting? Death-defying? Challenging? Post a reply with your story. Who knows, your story might get posted on the break-room’s fridge!

Once again, thanks for all your submissions. We’re doing this all because of you!

  1. Nothing from you guys for ages, and then a disappointing, were still alive post.

whats the news on the Lite version or whatever your calling it? what im looking for is just a program to organize caches to replace cachemate. i always carry my iphone, i dont always carry my palm.

  2. Do you think you’ll ever release the software? It seems like you think it’s ready based on your comments of testing it with 2.1, yet you’ve never put out anything for the rest of us.

Is this for real or what?

  3. I have been watching both you and geopher lite for quite some time now, and i must admit, I was gonna wait for geode to come out. With almost a month with no word from you, I went out and purchased geopher anyway. I am a little dissapointed with NNI and your lack of communication, but glad to see you haven’t left your product in the dust. I am really enjoying geopher too. I suppose I will take a look at your procuct, but it will be hard justifying paying for another geocaching app when I already have geopher. Let this be a lesson to you guys to atleast stay on top of the game and atleast communicate to your followers. No one is asking for a daily post, but atleast once a week you should be on here saying your still working and maybe even an expected date of release. I understand that this is not a simple app to do, and it takes time, and lots of effort, but then get a friend or a brother or a whatever to write on here and keep in touch with everyone.

    -A Dissapointed almost customer

  4. Thanks for the update. I agree that even a weekly update will help. I will be buying your app when it comes out. Currently I am using Geopher and iGeocacher and they get the job done but are not perfect. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Geode.

  5. I too have bought Geopher Lite to fill the gap until Geode is available. The newest update has made it easier to use and at 1.99 it’s affordable.

I’ve just started geocaching so I don’t have any cool stories to tell. I’m up to 5 finds so far and hope to find at least 5 more this weekend.

I will add my voice to the request for weekly updates. I would love to know whats going on with the development of Geode. I feel kind of like when I take my car into the mechanics and they say they’ll call me to let me know the status, but they never do. lol! I always end up calling them!

    Still looking forward to Geode!

  6. Am eagerly awaiting Geode, and am glad for the news. Development ain’t easy folks— cut these guys some slack and be patient! You can rest assured that they are more eager than anyone to get the product out the door! I’m glad that they’re taking the time to get things right and am excited to see the results…

  7. I am curious if we will be able to log our finds with your Geode App? I noticed that iGeoCacher has that option, although I have not personally tested it yet.

Also, do you know at what price you are going to be selling your App for?

I also wanted to let you know that your app looks the BEST by far and I appreciate all of the work you are doing on it. I look forward to when you release it.

  8. All geocaching trips are interesting! I think the most interesting one I had was my first geocaching trip, I ended up high up on a hill overlooking Swansea and found a lovely place with fantastic views (and a bench!) that I didn’t know existed even though I had been living in Swansea for 3 years.

Umm anything else? I went geocaching up a great big hill to the Folly Tower in the blazing heat (so we were all knackerd by the time we got up to the top) then all of a sudden it decided to pour down causing us to run 2/3 miles all the way down the hill to shelter in a McDonalds (though by the time we got there we were all soaked to the bone), but running down that hill in the rain was great fun :D

  9. I am very anxious to get your app. I was really wishing, again, that I had it today. I was out grabbing a couple caches at lunch. Trying to juggle between an app I wrote and geopher lite is kind of a pain. It’d be nice to have your app.

Today was one of the most interesting caches I’ve done. It was at the top of this huge library that’s almost entirely glass. Glass walls (inside and out), glass elevators, short glass walls between a walkway and falling to your death. I’m not one that likes to be up high and walking around this place searching for a cache was quite dizzying.

  10. I’m also very anxious for this app! Especially the Companion app for the iPod touch…
Hope to see it soon it the App Store! =)
