Hey everyone. As you can tell, it’s been a while since we’ve posted an update about Geode. Yes, it has taken longer than expected to create this program, and we do apologize to our loyal readers about the delay. We want to push this application out to you as much as you want to have it on your iPhones right now, trust us.
Unfortunately, time is the enemy of us all. I’d like to say that the application will be released soon, but we are unsure of the release date at the moment. Reason? We currently have a super-secret project that we’re working that’s important enough for us to push the release of Geode back. I wish I could give you more details about this project, but there are currently attack dogs and large men with big muscles watching my movements. I’ll just let you know that it’s BIG.
As a result, the weekly updates will stop until we have something more for all of you. I want to thank everyone out there who is still sticking with us (Even those who are providing some criticism on the forums. Good or bad, we always welcome people to post).
Is Geode dead? No. It’s still very much alive. It’s just….sleeping.

What could be more important than geocaching and will we have a use for that app too?

VAPORWARE!

I see where they get there name. No product industries. No communications industries. No weekly update industries.
Lets call the company NO NAME INDUSTRIES
After waiting 4 months I wouldn’t buy a product from them if it was the greatest product.

Once again, I’d like to apologize on behalf of NNI about the delayed launch of Geode. It was never our intention for it to be delayed this long.
I’d also like to mention that producing a product of this complexity is not an easy task. First, we have a lot of hurdles presented to us by Groundspeaks lack of an API for us to interface with. So this means that we can’t just pull data directly from their site. Thus, we have to come up with creative ways of getting data from their site to our app. Creative ways take time.
Second, we have to abide by the rules that Apple sets on the iPhone developer community. Following rules also takes time.
This wasn’t an easy decision for us to make this announcement. But it’s better to just lay it out on the line than to string anyone along. If there were no rules and regulations, we would have had this app out months ago.
All of that being said, I hope you’d understand what this is like from the other side of the website. Vaporware? In the technical term, yeah, I guess it is. We do intend on releasing this thing, just not in the time frame we anticipated.
As for “no product industries”, we do have Odometer. “No communication industries”? We keep open forums for everyone to respond, if we didn’t want communication, we’d close the forums or delete comments. No weekly updates? I’ll give that one to you. If you so wish, Joe, No Name Industries will gladly reimburse your subscription fee for the website.

You are nice and cunning Zach. Trully. You and your team really should learn how to handle releases of your products. As it’s been said earlier here, it would be better to get something out than nothing. People aren’t going to wait forever. I am really glad I myself did not wait for this app to be released. Usually I will side with the developer, but in this case I don’t know how I can. You take one app and just push it off to the side, and won’t even say why?? That’s insulting to all your loyal fans who come to your blog to check out your development.
For those of you still waiting, might I suggest Geopherlite. It’s a nice cheap geocaching app that works very well. The developer has the same problems NNI has, but he found some way to get past it, whether as nicely as NNI, doesn’t matter, cause he has the app out, and it works.

Like many people I have been waiting longer that I wished for this app. But life goes on and I don’t need it to enjoy caching although I am hopeful it will fill the gap that the existing apps don’t quite manage. I’m not going to loose any sleep over the delay, whenever a developer says to me “it’ll be out by December”, I invariable (and without any originality) reply “what year?” The question is rarely proofed unwarranted. I will not boycott Geode because of the delay (assuming the price is set reasonably as previously mentioned) but neither will I be holding my breath for updates (there will certainly be holes found) to the version that arrives

I agree with many of the posters here, the app is vaporware and will never be out, I don’t even believe it’s in production. If it were it’d be out.
Consider this much, many apps that Apple refused are still finished and released for jailbroken phones. Even free demo’s are released on Apples site, so, yes, this app is a work of fiction and we’ve all been taken by it.
Consider also this, the app they do have is how many? Can a company with that few apps really know what they’re doing? That is why it’s not out, they can’t do it and the pictures they post are certainly fake.
They would have released it by now otherwise. There is no need to boycott this company, they won’t ever release it anyhow so a boycott is silly. You can’t boycott what’s never coming out now can you?

I have been keeping posted on this App forever, and I can truly say I’m ashamed to have followed this at this point. By the time this App comes out, it will be out of date. How can anyone say that there is a new product that tops this, when if its so secret, nobody cares about it. Don’t you see how many people are excited to get this?
This must be close to done, as watching your videos, the app seems complete… Why not just finish this App, and move on to a new one?

No update in almost 5 months. Great job guys. The suspense is like no other. Just admit it to people that this app will never be released, or please release it. At the very least update all the people following this app and its development. Other apps are already out and have their following. You might want to release soon before people, or rather, before everyone else (if there is still people waiting for your app) leaves for another app. Hope your other apps are coming along well.

Oh well… Still no news about Geode, I’ll just buy the Groundspeak’s app and be done with it. Really wanted Geode, but I have no choice and since I will not need two apps for my hobby this is a lost sale for NNI.
Thanks for nothing but a long long long long wait

Folks – this seems like abandonware. There are several quality available apps that do the same things, so don’t despair. Of course there’s the official geocaching app, which works very well, although it’s dependent on internet access. There’s also igeocacher, which is very richly featured. The one I currently like best is geosphere, which allows easy loading of gpx files via just about any web based email. Check out any/all of these!
